One of the things I have grown to enjoy the most is speaking with groups and connecting with new audiences.
I used to dread public speaking, but something changed. For me, giving a public talk or lecture is an opportunity to connect people with the stories of different artists and historical periods. These stories not only provide insight into an artist's work but also resonate with our own lives, shrinking the distances of time, geography, and culture to the space between us and the surface of a painting, sculpture, or video screen.
I am open to speaking to groups of various sizes and would gladly discuss any subject you choose.* Here are some lectures I have already developed:
When Frida Kahlo Went to Community College
The unlikely story of a blockbuster exhibition held in the midst of the pandemic.
Andy Warhol’s Nest
How a shy boy from a steel town reshaped popular culture in order to belong.
Guston: Don’t Be Afraid of some Big Bad Paintings
Why we shouldn’t shy away from Philip Guston.
*Lecture fees vary depending on location, length and subject matter.
